Do this first
The quick route
- Choose the person who will keep the group's save and have them host.
- The host selects the 2-player, 3-player, or 4+ version of the world.
- Same-platform friends look for the session in the friends-game menu.
- Other players enter the current Join Code shared by the host.
- Keep the host online; ending the host session disconnects everyone else.
Method 1: join from the friends list
If the host is on your platform friends list, the official FAQ says their active game should appear automatically in the menu of friends' games. The important word is active: the host needs to start the session before guests try to find it.
Method 2: enter a Join Code
Use this for cross-platform groups or players who are not platform friends. The code is short and unique, and Big Walk creates a new one every time the host starts a session. Ask the host to read the current code from the live session rather than resending an old message.
Choose the host with future sessions in mind
The host owns the save for that journey. When the host ends the session, guests disconnect; to resume from that save later, the same host needs to start it again. Pick someone likely to be present for the group's regular play time.
