Is 1.008 the same update?
Yes. Update 1.008 is the console-facing number reported for the same August 28 patch whose game version is 1.5.1. Steam and Mac players should look for 1.5.1; PS5 and Switch 2 players may see the platform download number instead.
Earlier August patches that still matter
Version 1.5.0 fixed collision on one patch of trees. Version 1.4.10 improved network and voice stability. Version 1.4.9 required Session Passwords and added save protection, frame-rate and Vsync options. Version 1.4.8 normalized unusually quiet microphones without removing proximity-based voice range.
Do all players need the exact same version?
Not necessarily. Big Walk's official FAQ says only the first two components of the three-part game version need to match. A 1.5.x player cannot join a 1.4.x host, while a difference only in the third component can still be compatible.
