Do this first

The quick route

  1. Open the latest r/BigWalk Looking for Group thread or Big Walk Steam Discussions.
  2. Post your platform, region, time zone, availability, group size, and spoiler preference.
  3. Choose a dependable host who can return for later sessions because the host keeps the save.
  4. Have the host start the game before sharing the current Join Code and Session Password.
  5. Confirm that the first two numbers of every player's game version match.
  6. After the group fills, rotate the password and use Moderation Settings if needed.

There is no official public matchmaking

House House's official FAQ says Big Walk does not randomly match strangers. It is designed as a long-form cooperative game for the same group across multiple sessions. Community LFG spaces fill that gap, but they are not official House House or Panic servers.

Where to look for an active group

Start with the newest Looking for Group thread on r/BigWalk. The subreddit refreshes these threads and asks players to include practical details such as platform, region, and availability. Steam players can also use Big Walk's General Discussions, where hosts regularly post live group requests.

  • Reddit: use the newest r/BigWalk Looking for Group thread
  • Steam: use Big Walk General Discussions and check the post time
  • Discord: treat every invite as community-run unless House House links it from an official channel

Write an LFG post that finds the right group

A Join Code stops being useful when the host ends or restarts that session, so a code alone is not a useful long-term group post. State your platform, region or time zone, usual play hours, preferred group size, whether you use voice or text, your current progress, and whether you want a spoiler-free first run. That helps people decide before anyone commits to a shared save.

Join safely and keep the group together

The official FAQ says a new Join Code is generated whenever the host starts a session. Anyone who has the code can attempt to join, so use a Session Password, avoid leaving a live password in a permanent public post, and change it after the intended group has joined. The host can manage players from Session Details under Moderation Settings.

Pick the host before the first long session

The host keeps the save and must host again when the group returns. Choose someone with a stable connection and a schedule that overlaps the rest of the group. If that person ends the session, every guest disconnects; another player cannot simply continue the same host save.
