Do this first
The quick route
- Choose one dependable person as the regular host.
- Let that person create and reopen the group's main journey.
- Wait for the host to start before guests use the friends menu or Join Code.
- Do not assume a guest can continue the host's save independently.
Who owns the save?
The publisher calls the host the keeper of the save game. This means the group's progress is attached to the host's journey, not duplicated as a shared cloud save for every guest.
What happens when the host leaves?
The session ends for the other players and they are disconnected. To continue where the group stopped, the same host needs to load that journey and start the next session first.
A low-friction plan for regular groups
Pick a primary host before the first long session, especially if schedules differ. Treat another player's hosted game as a separate journey. The official FAQ confirms automatic saving, but it does not document an official cross-platform host-transfer feature, so this guide does not promise one.
